M is for Van Morrison

This is an easy one. Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl reminds me, not that I need reminding, of my dear wife. After all, it is, in a way, because of her that I'm doing this challenge to make April pass a little more quickly and we are now at the halfway mark, which means we're closing in on the time when I shall see her again in May. For a quick refresher on all of this see here.

There are quite a few brown eyed girls in my family, but today there's one who is particularly on my mind. So now I'm just going to listen to the music and think about her.

Also-rans: Phil Menard and his Louisiana Travellers playing One Is A Lonely Number. This reminds me of the time I nearly drove my family mad by repeatedly playing a compilation tape of Cajun music as we went round the Vend√©e region of France. I tried to justify this by pointing out the Cajuns had originally come from that area before crossing the Atlantic to settle in Canada and ultimately ending up in Louisiana. This nod to history carried little weight with my family. I still like the song and it's quite appropriate at the moment.

  1. It must be horrible being apart at a time like this. What a creative way to help pas the days of April, count them off one by one until you can go and be together. I hope her treatment is successful and you are able to enjoy many more years with your beautiful brown eyed girl.

    1. Thank you. The A to Z Challenge has been a welcome distraction, a lot of fun and it's also enabled me to "meet" nice people such as yourself. Your kind thoughts are appreciated.

  2. I love Brown-Eyed Girl (I am a brown eyed girl myself although I use the term girl loosely) . I also like the song One is a Lonely Number. I feel for your separation from your loved one. That has to be hard. Keep writing. It helps!

  3. Thank you, I will. Also it has to be said in these days of modern communications we do get to see each other when we like, even if only on computer screens.

    1. Thank you. In many ways, my memories have dictated the artists who have appeared.

  6. What a great way to use your April! Yes half way there! What a great way to serenade your wife, the whole month really could be one long serenade and captured here! I think your theme is a great idea and I get bits of memories each time I visit like this song as well because I too have brown eyes.
